This is my favourite book that I’ve found recently - The Disappearance of Darkness. It is a photography book which catalogues the closing & demolishing of several film factories around the world. The photographs are gorgeous and the book itself is very evocative. It contains several essays before the photographs which contain some quite powerful quotes that I will certainly be drawing on later down the line.

“Digital pictures can be viewed immediately, downloaded, and easily sent to friends and family, but are they inherently better?”

“On the internet, the materiality of a photograph dissolves; the urge to touch is replaced by the hand-shaped cursor passing over hyperlinks.”

“Analog photography is able to retain distinctiveness within imaging technologies, most often as nostalgia for older reflective ways of image viewing.”
